1st BAT - A MOMENT OF SILENCE

Some people say that a moment of silence is when you are walking in the country and the only thing you can hear is your own footsteps crack on the autumn leaves, the wind blow, a nearby river rush, and the birds sing.

For me, a moment of silence takes place just ten seconds before the train arrives at the underground station: all conversations, readings, and thoughts stop and all the eyes concentrate on the tunnel's black mouth until the train appears with a thundering noise.

Now, tell me: What is your moment of silence? What describes it?

  1. For me, a moment of silence is when I am writing something that I feel so much or when I'm thinking about what I can write. This moments are special for me, because is when I have inspiration and it's only between the paper and me, we are alone. My mind opens and I foget about everything. I think about all, things that have happened and things that could happen. I can think about movies or in my life.

A moment of silence could also be when I am walking on the street with music and I understand the letter of the song. It feels so emotional.

    1. Hm, Núria, I see you have nice moments of silence. When you say that you can "understand the letter of a song" what you really mean is that you understand the WORDS or the LYRICS.
Anyway, you wrote a nice coment.

  5. I think that a moment of silence would be in a cinema. Just before the film starts there are trailers and advertisement and in that moment people use to speak with their partner but suddenly when the film starts there is a huge moment of silence because everybody just shut up.

  6. My moment of silence is when I'm in bed, before I fall a sleep. When I don't have anything to think about and I only can see the blackness of the world because I think it's a moment that people feel free, relaxed and calm.

  7. For me my moment of silence is when i finish one of my books, a really nice book that you just can't put down because of it's beauty and words, and you realize how empty you feel when you reach the end. In my opion, the greatest books are the ones that make you feel this emptiness. In that moment of silence you reallize the magnificence of the book.

  9. For me one of my favourite silent moments is when I'm drawing. Try to put in the paper all my thoughts and all the things that I can imagine. That is a great moment because through a simple draw I can express all my feelings with no words. That draw brings me another moment of silence when I see it and I have the opportunity to remember who I'm.

  10. My moment of silence is any moment that i can put my headphones on and shut up the entire world with a click. I concentrate in one of the most important things of my life, music, i stop thinking, and an infinite world of possibilities and dreams is opened in my mind. Any other moment of my life is just too noisy for me, unless i am reading a good book, of course.

  11. My moment of silence starts just when I jump in the pool. I like swimming, it relaxes me a lot, also I can think about my day. A few years ago I did a swimming course, and I use this relax time to think a lot. In the swimming pool I can concentrate better than in my house. But now I go on summer, and I prefer only to relax and let my mind go blank.

  12. For me, a moment of silence is when you know how another person feels without speaking. That moment where you know that someone else understands you. That moment is very nice because you feel that you are not alone. For me the best moment of silence is give someone a hug although he not asks you to do it.

  13. My favorite moment of silence is when I am in my little village during the long summer days. It is located in a big valley, in the middle of anywhere. It represents for me one of the best moments in the whole year, staring at the nature, birds, sky... even to the infinite.

  15. I have two moments of silence. What I like to do is read and draw, and my first moment of silence is when I finish a drawing. I look at the picture in silence, I look for mistakes or I just only think that I'm proud of what I've done. My second moment of silence is when I finish a chapter of a book. I think of what happened in the chapter and the relationship it has with the whole story. Then usually I go to sleep.

  17. My moment of silence takes place just after finishing a book. While I’m reading everybody can talk and make noise but when I’ve finally finished it I need to go to a quiet place to think about it.

  19. My moment of silence is when I'm alone in my house, reading a book sitting on the couch in the office.

I'm so focused reading the story, I feel as if nothing around me there and be part of the book.

That time is the most spectacular for me because I am relaxed and doing what I like.

  20. Although is very typical, since I was a child my favorite moment of silence is looking the sky, especially in the night, but also during the day. But what I really like isn't only gazing it, is thinking how really it's what I'm watching. In this moment also I think silently and alone, only concentrate in what exist besides the I can see.
This summer I also discovered another beautiful moment of silence but exciting. It's about swimming in the sea on the night. The only thing that you see is the foam of the waves like white stains in the dark while you only are hearing the sound of the waves.

  23. One of the only moments of silence that I have is when I am doig a test. At that time simply I hear myself and I'm able to concentrate. I don't hear any noise and that relaxes me for the test.
Moments of silence are usually pleasant and relaxing but my moment of silence isn't exactly like this. I would rather say that my moment of silence is a little owerwhelming because in this moment I'm concentrated and owerwhelmed because I want to do well the test.
I suppose that not all the moments of silence they must be pleasant and relaxing...

  25. For me, my moment of silence is when I am with my best friends on the street or at home and we were silent for a few minutes, but is not uncomfortable. We don't need fill that empty space. We have so much confidence in us that we enjoy those moments of quietness where it isn't necessary to talk to feel that you can trust, especially if you are in a moment when we need to be in silence and feel the support of someone, but not with words.

  29. My moment of silence is when I am alone in my home. There is anyone who talks or makes noise.  In this moment I can draw and write, two things that I love doing, and I can't do when my family are at home. Or when I do this, in the midle of the beach, and the only things that I hear the singing of the birds and  the sound of the waves. This is the perfect silence for me.

It's in this moment when you can hear the sighs of your classmates when they don't understand the question or the sound that makes the pen when you write quickly becouse there's no time to finish it.

  35. For me, a moment of silence is when you are in the sofa at house listen to your favourite music, at the same time you're playing your favourite mobile phone game. Your mind isn't here, you don't know what is happening around you. You're so concentrated, and you forget all your problems, all your fears. There isn't something that disturbs you. Just at this moment you don't think, you don't exist. And that's a moment of silence.

  37. My moment of silence could be anywhere, anytime, when I'm not doing and not necessarily when I'm listening to some music. At this moment, I don't think anything, I don't feel anything, I don't even pay atention to the music. It's a very relaxing moment. And no, it's a diferent moment to when I fall asleep.
